Nature of Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, Andalusia, South of Spain Puerto de Santa Maria
There are three natural areas in the municipality of Puerto de Santa María, all three of them are included in the net of Protected natural sites of Andalusia (Red de Espacios Naturales Protegidos de Andalucía (RENPA). The largest is the Natural Park of the Bahía de Cádiz,then there is the swamp area of Puerto de Sta. María (this is a Natural reserve) and last the pine forest and dunes of San Antón.
The Natural Park of the Bahía de Cádiz is almost 11000 hectars of since 1989 protected land. Swamps, beaches and pine forests, rich on the diversity of flora and fauna. With regards to the Complejo Endorreico, these are 300 protected hectares where you will encounter various waterbirds like Ánade Real and the Focha.
The pine forests and dunes of San Anton, were more than ten years ago declared protected natural area of the Andalusian community of RENPA.
