The cultural route for Puerto de Santa María can be of great interest. For example, to see the place where Cristóbal Colón found his shelter, the palace houses of Cargadores de Indias, buildings where the rich business men, who where trading with the Indians, where accommodated.

Of the palace houses of cargadores de indias we like to extract amongst all the other, three in particular which are the Palacio de Araníbar, the Palacio de Santa Cruz and the Casa de Roque Aguado.

Other monument which we should not miss out in Puerto de Santa María is the Castle of San Marcos, which was constructed during the 10th Century and which was by its origines musulman. From there we can go to the Ermita de Santa Clara, dated back to the 16th Century and further to the antic exchange market of the 18th Centrury.

We can continue our stroll through cultural Puerto de Santa María to the archeological excavations of Aculadero, or of Doña Blanca.
